Live A-Z of Great Britain 10p Lucky Dip!
We’re hosting our third Change Checker Live Coin Swap on Saturday 21st April at Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester from 9am – 6pm.
Excitingly, this event will be a little different from our previous two.
Join us in Leicester where you’ll be able to swap ANY 10p coin for the chance to have a go on our ‘lucky dip’ of A-Z 10p coins. We’ll have plenty of all 26 coin designs with us so you’re in with a chance of picking any coin, from A-Z!
PLUS you’ll receive a voucher for 50% off the Collector’s Pack, so you’ll have space to add the rest of the coins when you find them.
Highcross Shopping Centre
Highcross is one of the premier shopping centres in Leicester with all the amenities for a great day out.
We’ll be located at Site 1 in the East Square, opposite Debenhams, ToysRus and Game.
For those travelling by car, there are two onsite car parks with 3,000 combined spaces.
If travelling by train, Highcross is a 10 minute walk from the Station and a park and ride service operates between 7am and 7pm.
The full address is: Highcross Leicester, 5 Shires Lane, Leicester, LE1 4AN.
Can I swap more than one coin?
Such is the popularity of our Live Coin Swaps and to ensure that it is fair for everybody, we’ll be limiting the number of swaps to strictly 1 coin per person.
Can I choose which A-Z of Great Britain 10p I swap?
It’s a lucky dip, so the coin you pick will be the coin you take away with you. Due to how popular we expect the event to be, I’m afraid we will be unable to offer specific A-Z 10p coin designs.
Will you be doing any more Live Coin Swaps?
That’s the plan!
We will be holding more Live Coin Swaps in the future and the plan is to visit a different area of the country each time, giving as many people as possible the opportunity to attend.
Can I bring other coins in my collection for you to take a look at?
You are very welcome to bring along other coins in your collection and if there is time we’d be happy to take a look at them for you. We expect the event to be very busy so we apologise in advance if you have a short wait.
We look forward to seeing you there!
I’ve now seen some coins in Derby and managed to get several Z’s and Q’s, but it appears that the Post Office staff are taking them meaning there are very few getting into circulation.
Releasing them through the Post Office appears to be a poor decision in my opinion.
This is awesome – some clowns are selling these on EBay for ridiculous amounts so good to see CC doing this!
Though, one person is selling a full set and folder for actually less that then royal mint are: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132575386652?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 check it out…that’s so strange!!
Crazy people!!!
Happy hunting all…
will the A-Z 10 lucy dip be coming to rhyl north wales anytime soon please
Hi Thomas, We are always looking at different areas to hold live events. As soon as anything is confirmed, we will announce it on social media and our blog. Thanks Luke
Blackburn Lancashire love to see you lot her my 7 year old daughter as taken over my coin collection finger crossed they come this way x
I feel like I have been mis sold the 10p A-Z albums. I purchased 4 for my younger grand children so that they could enjoy collecting them. At a cost of over £40 with p&p. Neither myself, friends,or family have seen even 1 in Cheshire.
I have emailed the Royal Mint but as yet no reply. Have they only gone into circulation in specified areas of the UK ?
Hi Margaret, The A-Z 10p coins have been released into circulation yet at the moment the numbers are quite limited. We are expecting many more to be released into circulation in the coming weeks and months as and when the banks and cash centres require them. So whilst I fully appreciate that it may be a bit frustrating at the moment, If people are patient they should find them easier to collect in the future. Thanks Luke

I have been collecting coins since the early 60s I know it’s a long time ago but the idea of collecting coins was to find the date before or after the date you had and make up a complete date run of a paticular set of your farthings halfpenny, pennies and so on and if you found two of the same date you would swap with your friend and all your coins were put in a tobacco tins, great fun and the only cost was you lost a bit of your pocket money but today you have to pay through the nose to get a coin you are looking for from the public who are lucky enough to be in the right area, rip off dealers and the king of them all the MINT who have the monopoly Which I thought was no longer allowed in this country, it would be nice if there was a lawer coin collectors out there who could do something about this, however I am fortunate enough to have a very good collection but I have to say the fun has just about gone out of the hobby the younger generation will not be able to aford to collect. IT IS SUCH A SHAME.
This could be a chance for you Change Checker to lead the way ? I for one will promise to buy all my £2 & 50p coins from you if the price is right.

Not seen a single A – Z 10p coin in Nuneaton or Birmingham so where are they.
I am in Sunderland. I went to my local post office and asked for 3 bags of £5 in 10p which had the A-Z coins inside in sealed bags. When I opened them and sorted through, I managed to get 18 of the coins for my collection straight away along with many doubles. I am going back to try and get the rest but I don’t think i will be as lucky next time and finish it in two go’s. Try doing what I did. You may find it the best way as I still have not had any of them in my loose change which I think is strange. Hope you find some soon to get your collection started
Do the post office know if the a to z ones r in there? I’ve asked my post office a couple of times and they said they haven’t got any yet?
I have also not come across any of the 10p coins in my loose change. But, I went to my local post office and asked for 3 x £5 sealed bags containing any A -Z ones. When I opened them at home I was able to place all but 6 of the coins into my Royal Mint A-Z album with many duplicates left over. All were in excellent condition. It may well be impossible for me to collect the other 6 coins this way and may have to purchase them to complete the collection. I used the left over coins to pay for groceries at the supermarket as cashiers are always wanting small change.
It may be worthwhile trying this to get a good start in your collection as I think trying to purely collect from loose change will be impossible, at least while they are still in a good new condition
I have been a coin and note collector for over 15 years now I’m very disappointed that there are no 10ps in circulation secondly I think the price of coins from the mint are to expensive perhaps the government or independent body should look into pricing of coins sold by the mint you will find coins sold out at RM but are available at change checker and other well know coin dealers and the price differs depending if the coin is in a sleeve or not can RM explain please I’m confused
People are buying commemorative coins in bulk then selling on platforms like Ebay for inflated prices, that’s why we cannot find them in our change. The enjoyment of finding one in your change has been removed by these sharks. The Royal Mint should put a limit on how many you can purchase.
We live in north Devon due to disability could not travel that far sadly being disabled means I miss out on lots of things events and offers across the board when it’s not available online
I too have disability problems, mobility being one of them, so I am unable to attend these live events. It would be good to have some online or postal events so those of us who are unable to attend could also take part.
Do you intend to have any postal versions of these events for people who may not be able to travel easily
Sadly I’m a disabled person and cannot travel to such events either
We live in Devon
Not seen a single one in Cambridgeshire.
Not seen any in our part of Kent either. Have bought the album for last years Beatrix potter 50p’s but never found any to put in them. I think many businesses and organisations buy them all up to sell at a profit on Ebay.
Sorry cant make it – too far away. Looking forward
to a nearer event. You have heard of Ardrossan Ayrshire
haven’t you?
great that this is happening , looks like the silver proof 10p coins in the acrylic blocks have sold out at RM , not certain though.
the new 10p,s are proving very very popular , loads of fun for collectors and new people just finding the coin collecting bug .
No A-Z 10p coins have been seen at all in my area of Derbyshire, my Grandchildren are heartbroken !!
Hi, unfortunately change checker do not appear to take any notice when such comments are made. I would think it would not be beyond their capabilities to organise. How do we actually get the comment to them. perhaps the use of the facebook site could be the answer, I have had fairly quick replies re actual coins etc. Some sort of concertedeffort may be required. Best wishes
Hi Mike, I apologise for the slow response. It has been incredibly busy recently; we always try to respond as soon as possible. I have taken on board your comments about offering a postal version of the Change Checker Live event for people who are unable to travel. I’m afraid it is not something we are able to offer at the moment but something I assure you we will look at implementing as part of our next live event. Thanks Luke
Hi Luke many thanks for your reply. Glad to see your comments. Many thanks
Mike
