hi i am doing well i only need 3 more coins 2008/2017 and 2018 ,can you please tell me if a coin was out in 2018 as it doesent look like there was
Hi Norman, congrats on finding so many! Sounds like you’re really close to completing your Definitive 50p Collecting Challenge! Until The Royal Mint reveal the 2018 mintage figures we won’t know for sure, but it does look as though people are struggling to come across this one.

I can only find proof 2018 definitives. No circulated coins at all. I would say definitely not.
Only have 6 to find 09,10,15,16,17&18.
I now have every 50p except the 2018 and 2019 (I have them in annual sets just not found them in my change) but am still looking. I don’t know if the 2018 or 2019 50p’s are even in circulation in N Ireland, considering I have still to find a single A to Z 10p in my change yet.

I think that there are a lot of coins not circulating in NI, and it doesn’t help when my bank refuses to sell me any more than 5 bags of any denomination at a time; I haven’t seen a Paddington Bear, Newton, Puddleduck and several others in my change in NI at all. And as for the Royal Air Force £2, and some of the World War One commeratives – forget about it. I can’t be as negative about the 10p coins however – I have 3 which were found in NI and a fourth found in Edinburgh.
One of my son’s found an A – Z, just I haven’t, I did find a Newton and a Sherlock Holmes though. I have same problem with bank and post office.

2019 coins seem quite common but I am yet to find a 2018 myself.
Good stuff. But please be aware a lot of self serve checkouts don’t give 50p’s out as change, 10p’s either. There’s not a lot of room inside so they give out 20’s and 5’s instead. Most shops would be happy to oblige if you ask for some 50ps, i know i would give them out.
