To celebrate 30 years since Wallace and Gromit first appeared in A Grand Day Out, The Royal Mint has released a brand new 50p for UK collectors. Issued in partnership with Aardman Animations, it features a design by Nick Park – the creator of Wallace and Gromit. This is the first time Wallace and Gromit have appeared on UK coinage. The reverse shows the two characters peering from a porthole in the spaceship that took them to the moon in their very first film. The obverse features a portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
