This £5 coin was issued in 2020 by The Royal Mint as the first coin in the series celebrating British Music Legends. It commemorates one of Britain’s most iconic and influential bands ever, Queen. This is the first-time ever Queen have featured on a coin worldwide and the first-time a British band has been celebrated on UK coinage. Chris Facey’s reverse design showcases the iconic instruments of all four founder members, including Freddy Mercury’s Bechstein TM grand piano. This £5 coin was officially approved by band members Brian May and Roger Taylor to truly capture the essence of the band’s legacy.
